Our commitment: gambling is entertainment, not income
Gambling is a form of entertainment, not a way to earn money or to settle debts. Our games are based on chance, the house holds a mathematical edge over time, and every session should be treated as paid-for entertainment with an uncertain outcome. We would rather you played a small amount for a long time than a large amount once.
Before you deposit, we ask you to decide two figures: the amount of money you can afford to lose without affecting your rent, bills, savings or the people who depend on you, and the amount of time you are willing to spend playing in a day or a week. Keeping to those two figures is the single most effective safeguard there is.
- Stake only money you can afford to lose, never money set aside for something else.
- Do not borrow in order to gamble, and do not gamble to win back what you have already lost.
- Decide your budget and your stopping point before you open a game, not during it.
- Take regular breaks, and avoid playing when you are upset, bored, under pressure or have been drinking.
Our games are for adults aged 18 and over. We hold a gaming licence and carry out identity, age and address checks on accounts. An account found to belong to anyone under 18 is closed, deposits are returned and any winnings are void.
The tools in your account and how to switch them on
Every safer gambling tool is free of charge and you will find them together in the safer gambling section of your account. Most apply the moment you confirm them.
Deposit limits
A deposit limit caps how much you can pay into your account over a set period, such as a day, a week or a month. Once the limit is reached, further deposits are declined until the period resets. You can hold limits over more than one period at the same time.
Loss and session limits
A loss limit caps the amount you can lose over a chosen period, counting your stakes against your returns. A session limit ends play once you have been logged in for the length of time you picked, so a long evening cannot drift on unnoticed.
Time-outs
A time-out is a short break. You choose a period from the options in your account and we lock the account for that time: you cannot deposit or play, although you can still withdraw a balance. The account reopens automatically at the end.
Self-exclusion
Self-exclusion is a longer and firmer break. When you self-exclude, your account is closed to play for at least the minimum period shown in your account, we remove you from our marketing lists, and we will not reopen the account early or accept you back during that period, however you ask. You can still withdraw funds that were in the account when you excluded.
Reality checks
A reality check is an on-screen message, at an interval you choose, telling you how long you have been playing and how you stand in that session. You can then carry on or close the game.
Switching a tool on
- Sign in and open the safer gambling section of your account.
- Choose the tool you want, for example a deposit limit or a time-out.
- Enter the amount, or pick the period you want from the options shown.
- Confirm. A new or lower limit applies straight away; a request to raise or remove a limit takes effect only after the cooling-off period shown in your account, and you can cancel it in the meantime.
Signs that gambling may be causing harm
Gambling problems usually develop gradually, and the people around someone often notice before that person does. The checklist below is not a diagnosis, but if you answer yes to any of it, it is worth pausing and asking for support.
- You play for longer, or with more money, than you intended.
- You chase losses by raising your stakes to get back to where you were.
- You borrow money, sell belongings or use money meant for bills in order to gamble.
- You hide how much you gamble from your family, your partner or your friends.
- You gamble to escape stress, low mood, loneliness or boredom.
- You feel restless or irritable when you try to cut down or stop.
- Gambling is affecting your work, studies, sleep or relationships.
Where to get free and confidential help
Support is available across the UK, whether you are worried about your own gambling or someone else's. You do not have to be in crisis to use it.
- GambleAware funds and signposts free treatment and prevention services across Great Britain, and publishes plain-English information and self-assessment tools for players and for the people close to them.
- GamCare offers free counselling, group support and practical advice through its own services and a network of partner organisations, in person, by telephone and online.
- GamStop is the free national self-exclusion scheme: one registration blocks you from all gambling websites and apps licensed in Great Britain, including ours, for a period you choose.
- The National Gambling Helpline is staffed by trained advisers who will talk things through with you confidentially and can refer you into treatment.
Registering with GamStop sits alongside our own tools and covers operators beyond us, so we suggest it to anyone taking a long break. Our support team can explain how our tools work, but we are not counsellors; for treatment and advice, please use the organisations above.
Protecting children and other people in your household
Play with us is restricted to people aged 18 and over, and keeping under-18s away from gambling is a job we share with you. We ask for proof of identity, age and address, we may ask again at any time, and we will suspend an account while a check is outstanding.
If children or other adults use the same devices as you, these steps make a real difference:
- Keep your password and payment details to yourself, and never let anyone else use your account.
- Do not save your password in a browser on a shared device, and sign out when you finish.
- Use a screen lock or passcode on any device you play on.
- Consider parental control or filtering software, which can block gambling sites and apps; some is free and some is built into the device or your home broadband.
- Talk to children about why gambling is for adults only.
If you think someone under 18 has used your account, tell us straight away in live chat or at support@casino-luckymanor.co.uk so that we can secure the account.
